Hilda Hutton

Obituary of Hilda Ilene Hutton

Hilda will be missed by her loving daughter, Sandra Dalgleish (Brent) and her grandson Scott.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Hilton, Eleanor, and Orlie Phillips, and by her parents Oalen & Edna Phillips.

She attended Blue Church School (Gr.1-7), Johnstown Public School (Gr.8), and Prescott High School.

During World War II, she worked at DLD Dominion Lighthouse Depot producing canister bombs for the war effort. She then worked at Brockville Cleaners for 40 years.

She married Purvis Maitland Dillabough on June 21, 1951 and they were together until Purvis’ death in 1985. She later married Bill Hutton in 1990, and they were together until Bill’s death in 1995.

Hilda was an avid bowler and won first place at the Ontario Senior Games in 1997. She shared her love of bowling with her grandson, Scott, who loved bowling with his Grandma.

She attended the Prescott Presbyterian Church for many years with Reverend Ian MacLean. She also belonged to Walker House in Prescott, where she enjoyed bus trips, card games and luncheons. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at the Brockville General Hospital, and was an active member of the Rebekahs in Prescott.

Hilda enjoyed life; the summer performances with her friends, coffee at Piccolo’s in Prescott, and gardening. She loved flowers!

She touched the lives of many friends, nieces and nephews, and was very close to her niece Ann Bates (Don).

Hilda was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Mother-In-Law, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A private family interment will take place at a later date.
