I have known Wendy since we were in school together in grade three, and losing one of my oldest friends is a great loss. I am glad we were able to stay in touch over the years, but wish we had had more time together and more visits.
Wendy taught me to play the game Scrabble which is still my favourite game. I remember mudpout fishing with her as a youngster---she had to put the worm on my hook and take the fish off, but she did not complain about that.
She always took adversity with good grace and never complained about her life's tough blows. She spoke of her family with much love and pride.
Wendy, you remind me of a butterfly, with its quiet strength and beauty, and whenever I see a butterfly on my walks, I will think of you. I won't forget you, old friend!
Sincere condolences to all her family, especially Carmen, Vicki, Andy, Noel and Ken...

My condolences to all the family. I knew Wendy and Carmen through Gwen and through St Peter's Church while I was in Garretton and North Augusta. Very saddened to hear of her passing especially at a time when so many of the community would be wanting to gather together for her funeral to commend her into God's care and to give thanks for her life. God bless and keep you.

My sincere condolences to Carmen, Ken, Vicky, Noel and family.
How can one say goodbye to someone who was so perfect, perfect in the way she took care of her family, perfect in her love for them, perfect in her love for her church and her God, perfect in my mind in how she treated people and how she saw the good in everyone. That kind of person can't be replaced, she has left her mark on all who loved her. For those that never met Wendy have lost out on someone who could have made their life better and more fulfilled. RIP dear Wendy, you have left behind very big shoes to fill.

Wendy was a beautiful woman inside and out with a great sense of humour and unbelievable love for her entire family. The Gottfried's would visit us at our cottage almost every year but my fondest memories were in 2014 when we spent a full week visiting the Alamo and then a week on a beautiful cruise ship. My wife Carol and I had an amazing time with Wendy & Carmen and it will be remembered forever.
Wendy we love you and will miss you but so many wonderful memories will be with us forever. You will never be forgotten!
Love You,
Paul & Carol Torkoff

Wendy's passing has been such a huge loss , for Carmen , her loving family and for so many others lives she touched both in our community as well as within her church family. She truly has been an inspiration for us , fighting cancer with strength and grace. " To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die" Rest now in perfect peace Wendy. We will miss you.

Dear Carmen, Ken, Noel, Vicky Andy and family.
The news that Wendy passed away was difficult to acknowledge. It seemed as if she had been battling for so long and was going to be ok but your recent message Carmen really let us know that it was not to be.
My first memories of Wendy are from Westminster and the basketball games with Noel and Ken and the fun we had watching the boys. Then time marched on and the boys grew as did our family and soon they were in high school (still playing the beloved bball) and Wendy watching again. The news of Ken's accident demonstrated a strength and determination in both Wendy and Carmen to help Ken and really help everyone to make sense of that incident.
My most cherished memory of Wendy was her beautiful light up the room smile. It was like a megawatt light bulb-so spectacular and transforming a bad day into a good one. She was always positive even when she was down or sad.
We truly wish we could give you all hugs-to be there with you. But we know that is not going to happen just yet-so we are sending virtual hugs and love to your entire family as you mourn the loss of an amazing person, an amazing woman.
Godspeed Wendy and may your smile light up the gates of heaven and beyond.
With love from the Solc family
Rick and Kathy and our gang of Meg, Amy and Ben and their families
