Mabel Sparling

Obituary of Mabel Sparling

"Mother", "May-Belle", "Nanny", "Nan", "Wee-Ma", and "Nan-Nan" to so many who loved her, she blessed us on this earth for over 97 years.

Born Mona Mabel Hodgins on July 17, 1923 in Thorne Quebec, very few crossed her path who didn't love her and found themselves as part of her chosen family after a few visits.

She married her one and only love Myrland Arthur Sparling on August 31, 1944 in Clarendon, Quebec where they got to spend over 75 years together until September 2, 2018 when Myrland made his way ahead to heaven to make sure their heavenly home was set and ready for her to join him on January 17th, 2021.  With some coaxing by the family, she managed to stick around on earth a few more years to keep us happy, but was more than ready to, "Go to heaven to be with Myrland," and of course those who had passed before her. (Eileen & Charlie, Velma & Ruben, Herbie & Norma, Dorothy, Doris, Marjorie, Glenn, and her many cherished in-laws).

Mabel leaves behind a big crowd she adored and who adored her.  Her family was her pride and joy. She was always most happy when her "chicks" were all around her together. Missing her are her children, Faye & Terry, Marlie & Steve, and Paul & Tracy.  Her Grandkids Robin (Ken), Kristin (James), Danny (Linda), Jordan (Ashley) and Paige, and of course her precious Great Grand’s who loved her to the stars and back; Josh, Ella, Sully, Mikayla and Jase.

Having a large loving family between Mabel and Myrland, she also leaves behind to miss her some siblings and siblings-in-law... Lorne (Bernice), Lloyd, Ronnie, Doreen, Gladys (Allan) and many nieces and nephews and cousins and friends who she loved with all her heart and prayed for daily.

The Family would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff and friends at Bridlewood Manor in Brockville for their extended care, support and friendship and to the Palliative Care Team of Bayshore Home Healthcare for their excellent care of Mabel the past few months.

Due to COVID a Celebration of life and love will be held in Shawville, Quebec for family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, folks are asked to donate to the Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Shawville or the charity of their choice.
