I worked with Maureen at CPHC... she was the kindest and most positive person I ever knew... I dare say we laughed more than we should have. It was a joy and an honour to be her friend. Kimberly Newbold

Maureen won us over with her smile and warmth. We connected with Cameron and Maureen five years ago at one of the many fundraising events organized at the Burritts Rapids community center. We kept running into each other several times a year and were always looking for reasons to get together. Life being the way it is, we get busy and we don’t follow through.
Two years ago, is when David and I really got to know this lovely couple better. Emily and Mark had won a Burritts Rapids dinner at a fundraiser that was to be hosted in several homes in the vicinity. We were one of the lucky couples invited to take part in this amazing experience.
So David and I decided to have everyone gather at our home on Donnelly Drive for a cocktail before our adventurous 5 course meal. We all got along like a house on fire and we chatted until we realized we were running late for our first course! David came up with the brilliant idea I should shuttle our friends to our first destination. Well! If we’re going anywhere in splendid weather, we may as well go in style! I started up the 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster with a bit of effort and grabbed a silk scarf for Maureen to wear on her head so the wind wouldn’t create knots in her hair. She looked like a movie star!!! So off we went to start an evening we all wished would never end...
The weather was perfect, the food was delectable, the drinks were well paired and refreshing, the company was simply magic, and it was all over way too quickly.
Being the teenagers at heart that we are, David and I invited everyone back you our place for a nightcap. Most of our party declined but Cameron and Maureen went back home to change as the night was getting cool, and they both came back to join us on our terrace by the fire pit. At this time, I had no idea regarding Maureen’s fight. No word was spoken about it. She was so vibrant, energetic and enthusiastic! I never would have guessed. Stories were exchanged that night, good laughs were shared and this went on till the wee hours of the morning. Maureen and Cameron had walked to our place around 11 pm and proceeded to walk back under the watchful crescent of a moon around 2:30 am!!! We were total rebels defying the night! So was the beginning of our friendship.
Never a complaint, never a word was spoken about what Maureen was suffering all this while. Looking back, we can have nothing but admiration and profound respect for that quiet resilient spirit Maureen embodied. Our only regret, is not having known her longer.
Our most sincere and heartfelt sympathies to all those who feel her loss. She will be remembered fondly by many of us staying behind.
Rest In Peace dear Maureen. See you on the other side.
Love,
Geneviève and David

Maureen was a founding member of the Burritts Rapids Book Club/Pub. She hosted with warmth and humour and we laughed a lot. She was also a quiet and caring neighbour. Our sincere condolences to her family she loved so dearly. Her generous, caring spirit lives on and we will not forget her. Rest in Peace, Maureen.

We've known Maureen since she was a beautiful, accomplished and sincerely lovable teenager. Our love and respect for her grew with each passing year; sadly we lost touch once she moved to Ottawa with her growing family, but she was always in our thoughts. We can't even imagine the pain her family is experiencing with her loss and during her illness. We will keep them close in thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and in the years to come when every special occasion celebrated will bring more sadness that Maureen isn't with them all.

Cameron & family: to you & your family Cam, our sincere condolences. It was a great shock to have read about Maureen's issues with breast cancer. Her passing was much to soon.
I have just learned from "linkedin" that you have recently retired from CFIA. It is even more difficult to retire and your life partner passes before the two of you have a chance to enjoy your retirement years together.
I truly hope you find solace for your grief with your family, best friends and yes, even your pets will help you heal.
It is with a heavy heart, that we are wishing you and your family well, as you go forward with your grieving process.
All the best.

My sincere condolences to Maureen's family and friends.
There wasn't a day to cold or windy for Maureen to enjoy a cross country ski! We had some lovely skis and chats in the beautiful
Marlborough Forest.
I will miss Maureen's warm smile, gentle spirit, sound advice, love for her family, friends and animals, and her enormous strength and positivity.
I am blessed to have met Maureen and share our love of the outdoors and nature together.( Thanks to Liam for joining the silver seven hockey team years ago.)
