Obituary of Maureen Ethel Duff

It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Maureen Duff who died suddenly September 24^th, 2019 at the Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy bout with cancer.  Maureen is survived by her mother Eilene Verheul (n. Ridsdill), step-father John Verheul; husband Cameron; children Islay, Emma and Liam; sisters Karen Tyldesley (Scott), Larraine Lynch (Justin Slane); niece Katie, nephews Will & Owen, and her devoted pets Bouvier, Finn & Westie, Ellie.

Maureen was a kind and gentle spirit, who possessed strong principles and abundant humour. She was a well-respected health practitioner over many years who leaves a legacy of selfless compassion and care for others. She was a proud mother who loved her children and family immensely and had many longstanding and rich friendships across the country. She was an excellent athlete who remained very active and enjoyed nature, her beautiful gardens, and the outdoors at every opportunity. She was a dedicated community builder and supporter. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. 

We wish to extend our special thanks to Dr. Terry Ng, and the Oncology team at the Ottawa Cancer Centre, the General, Queensway, and Winchester campuses for their care and support during her extended treatment.

A Celebration of Life for Maureen will be held at Burritt’s Rapids Hall October 26^th, 2019, 12-3 PM.

She has run her final marathon and crossed the finish line.
